Looking out the window of my carriage, I locked eyes with this bench. Yes, a bench! I didn’t know why I felt compelled to take the picture, but something about it resonated with me. So, with a single click, I took a picture and thought that was the end of it. But later on, as I looked through the pictures I had taken earlier in the day, there it was again, the bench. Institinctively, the song by Luther Vandross flowed through my mind, ’ A chair is still a chair, even when there’s no one sitting there…’Could this be the reason why I had to take the picture? I reminisced about recent events and the back-to-back negative images surrounding us and immediately realised what the bench signified. Basically, it was a reminder that whether there’s someone sitting on that bench or not, it’s function remains the same, to let people seat. Likewise, no matter what difficulties life throws our way, as long as we have breath, we ought to keep keeping on. Because difficulties, no matter how intense, won’t last a life time. It will eventually pass. Life as we know, is filled with hills and valleys and the knowledge acquired whilst climbing one hill, can prepare the way for the next hill you are going to climb. So, whaterever you’re going through, stay resilient, ask for help if you need to and eventually you will overcome it if you don’t give up.
